New international maritime regulations forbid the disposal of waste at sea, therefor
efficient ways have to be found of collecting and storing it until it can safely be
disposed of on land.
SKIP UNITS manufactures various sizes of containers for oil rigs which can be used to
transport materials out, and waste back from the rigs, making best use of the supply
vessel hold and providing a safe containerised method of trans-shipping goods whilst at
sea.

Problems of waste containment on ships involved in oceanographic surveys and other
duties which entail long periods at sea can be overcome by the compaction of waste
on-board thus reducing its volume by up to five times. When in port the container can be
craned ashore and the local waste disposal system be utilised, the empty container being
returned to the ship for further use.
